The Powerful Effects of a Marketing Roadmap

I’ve been working with a wonderful client -  Heather Wilde is a wordsmith, artist,  and speaker who provides validation, inspiration and self-awareness to her community. Her superpower is her own vulnerability - She can "see" people uniquely and help them tell their story.

Heather had signed up for my VIP Day - the 90 Day Custom Marketing Roadmap last month. These are really powerful sessions, I have my clients fill out a questionnaire beforehand, then we meet for 90 minutes in the early part of the day and then I spend the rest of the day creating a custom roadmap for them.

The roadmap is a 10-14 page, step by step guide that details their ideal client(s), benefits and pain points they solve, marketing activities that will help them achieve their goals, and breakdown of what they can do in the next 3 months. At the end of the same day, I share the roadmap with my clients and then do a two week check in to review what marketing they accomplished and provide support and accountability.

Last week, Heather had her two week check in and I was so delighted by what’s happened:

  • Heather took initiative and set up a CRM (Custom Relationship Management) using LessAnnoying. This is a huge accomplishment, so many people say they will do this but then they never do!

  • Heather reached out to her centers of influence and warm leads to start conversations to book more speaking engagements and book projects. When I gave her permission to focus on these relationships, some really exciting conversations happened including being asked to lead a craft school in her community.

  • I gave her permission to not use email funnels and show up in an authentic way to her community and Heather was relieved! One thing Heather is excited about announcing is her one year business anniversary and sharing that with her community via her newsletter.

  • She made some edits on her website based on my feedback on the roadmap. Heather wants to build up paid speaking opportunities and has positioned herself more openly on her website with only a few changes.

  • Heather took a photo of handwritten cards she sent out and told she loved “Giftology” by John Ruhlin. Giftology is a book all about how to give a gift to someone from the heart and with meaning. It’s inspired Heather to give gifts to people who have been instrumental in helping her grow her business.

Heather was moved and inspired by the custom marketing roadmap I created for her. It’s true when someone takes action, even small actions, it creates change. I find that most of the time business owners appreciate validation for what they have done and permission to try new things and/or spend time on actions that have huge potential, but you can easily talk yourself out of.

What’s holding you back from the potential of authentic marketing in your business? I'm accepting clients for a custom marketing roadmap right now. Be sure to book soon so you can get your roadmap before 2024!
